This course is all about unlocking your voice and using it with greater control, confidence, and style. Whether you're new to singing or looking to grow, you'll learn how to adapt your voice to a variety of contemporary genres, from pop to soul and beyond.

We’ll sing together at times, but this isn’t a choir—we focus on individual vocal development within a fun, collaborative setting. Each week, we’ll dive into pop vocal techniques, drawing inspiration from well-known artists and songs, and learning how to deliver them with authenticity and expression.

You’ll explore different vocal roles, including lead vocals, backing vocals, harmony, improvisation, and ad-libs, and discover how to blend with others while keeping your unique voice.

Along the way, we’ll weave in the basics of musical theory through hands-on activities and easy-to-grasp exercises—no textbooks, just practical tools you can use right away.

This is a year-long course designed to build progressively over time. Each session adds to the last, helping you grow your skills, confidence, and performance ability as we work toward two end-of-term gigs—one in winter and one in summer.

Because of this cumulative structure, we don’t offer drop-in sessions or mid-year starts. The consistent group environment also helps create trust, support, and a real sense of community among singers.

To get the most out of the experience, we encourage full commitment from the start—you’ll be amazed at how far you can come in a year!

SingPOP sessions are on Tuesday evening at 6.15pm. Please note that there are two performances - one at the end of the winter term, and one at the end of the summer term with dates to be confirmed.

If you cannot attend your class one week you are welcome to attend the alternate group so you don't miss out, just let me know in advance.

It is useful to bring an empty a4 ring-binder for sheets, as well as a pencil and highlighter, however Laura will have spare stationery.

The course is non-refundable so please be prepared to commit to the full year schedule. As a group course please keep in mind that if you do not attend a session you will not receive a refund or credit for that time as the workshop session will still take place.

If the session is cancelled by the host, Laura, an alternate catch up session will be scheduled.
