Machine Charades US* is a twist on the typical charades used to consolidate understanding of pulse through movement and vocalisations. A variety of everyday mechanical objects are shown on the cards which the performer must convey through repetitive movements and/or sounds.

• Try out different pitches and timbres by playing copycat with the teacher

•  Use a variety of tempo tracks to reinforce the concept of pulse

• Play the game over different genres of drum groove, or instrumental backing

• Transcribe the repeating patterns improvised
