This autumn term my youngest students have spent a little time in each lesson learning about how music is constructed through this songwriting challenge.

They have shown creativity in their lyrics and melodies, with some adding highlights of harmony and ad libs too. 

​

Much of the criteria were new concepts for my beginners and this helps them to navigate their own performance pieces with greater understanding as well as taking some creative control over their vocal melodies.

The songs will be judged on their compositional content as pilot versions of a song, 'a work in progress' if you will.

​

I would love to develop these songs further and record polished versions! A really good start everyone...
